LED stands for light-emitting diodes. These are newer technology and they are 90% more efficient than the normal light bulbs. They work in such a way that electrical current passes through the microchip and illuminates the tiny light sources known as light-emitting diodes (LED). This results in visible light. They have a heat sink installed in it which absorbs the heat produced by the light-emitting diodes which prevent it from having any performance issues.
How are LED Bulbs different than normal bulbs?
Light-emitting diodes do not die out. Instead, the brightness of the bulb slowly decreases over time which is called Lumen Depreciation. However, in a normal bulb, there is a metal filament installed, which is powered by electricity and it slowly dies out. Whenever the metal filament finishes the bulb has to be replaced as it has expired.
LED bulbs produce directional light which means that they give off light in a specific direction. This causes them to be more efficient and everlasting. On the other hand, normal bulbs give off light in every direction which causes them to use more of their energy and results in their short life span.
Advantages of LED Bulbs over normal bulbs
- Light Emitting Diode bulbs have a longer life span than normal bulbs by a huge difference due to it being super-efficient. Normal LED bulbs last around twenty-five thousand hours while on the other hand normal bulbs last around three to four thousand hours.
- Light Emitting Diode bulbs are more energy-efficient. They waste very little of their energy and turn around 70% of their energy into light while normal bulbs waste a lot of energy by giving it off through heat.
- Light Emitting Diode bulbs produce brighter and highly intense light. They produce around 4,000 lumens of light while on the other hand, normal bulbs produce around 450.
- Light Emitting Diode bulbs come in any color you can imagine. If you want your room to have a specific color LED bulb has you covered.
